Love the Markets? Love the people, the gathering,
the fantastic food, the fun? Thought about getting involved? We'd love it! There
are always fun and satisfying ways to get involved with Your Local Farmers Market
Society. At any of the Markets, or with the Society as a whole, volunteering means
that you directly contribute to and participate in Vancouver's healthy and cosmopolitan
food community. Contact market@eatlocal.org to find out more.
OnSite:
As part of the Market team, volunteers
provide customer service to shoppers, participants, vendors and the local community.
Volunteers also promote and implement the fundraising programs that enable this not-for-profit
community Market to continue it's activities self-sufficiently. Volunteers are crucial
to the running of the Markets every week. Volunteers help set up and tear down the
Market and Community Table displays, hang banners, staff the information table by
selling juice, raffle tickets, and Market merchandise and answer general questions
about the Market and vendors. Volunteer shifts are 4 hours long and we ask for a
commitment of 2 shifts per month. Volunteers work in a team with 2-4 others per shift
and a paid staff member. Volunteers do not work directly with the farmers or set-up
farmer stalls. If this is your interest, contact any of our farmers at the Market
directly. Contact us at market@eatlocal.org
