Your Local Farmers Market In the News!

This year Your Local Farmers Market Society (YLFMS) is celebrating 10 years as the founding non-profit society of the farmers markets in Vancouver. Over the past 4 weeks alone YLFMS has been featured in news stories and segments on CBC Radio One, CFML Radio, and in the Vancouver Courier, Georgia Straight, Shared Vision magazine and Ming Pao magazine. Coverage has focused on what’s new this season at the markets, the social and economic benefits of the farmers’ markets to city-dwellers and to local farmers, the role the farmers’ markets play as part of a sustainable, local food system, and the new membership drive with a goal of gaining 500 new annual member-supporters.

Click to read the
Shared Vision Article written by André LaRiviere featuring Tara McDonald, Executive Director of Your Local Farmers Market Society. Its a great read and provides plenty of helpful tips and info about eating local.

Help us Advertise - Be a Market Sign Host!

Do you live in a neighbourhood near Trout Lake (East Van) or near Nat Bailey Stadium? If so, and if you would like to host a small sign for the 2005 market season, let us know! We would love it if you would help us get the word out about the markets by hosting a sign on your lawn. Sign hosts keep signs at their house for the market season (end of October). Come talk to us at the Market Information Tent at any market or call the office at 604-879-FARM.
