Holiday Market - December 13 & 14, Heritage Hall

hmposter

Keep your holiday dollars at home this year and consider buying your Christmas gifts from BC producers at the Holiday Market – Vancouver Farmers Markets 13th Annual Celebration of Food and Art, December 13 & 14 at Heritage Hall.

With the economic climate looking less than positive these days, it is important to remember to support your local producers with your holiday dollars.  Spending money in your community keeps the economy strong and the benefits go far beyond making loved ones happy with nice gifts. Our vendors represent many categories – farmers, fishermen, food producers, wild harvesters and artisans.  These are your neighbours and fellow BC residents – please support their efforts and keep your money in BC this holiday season.

The market takes place at Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street, 10am – 5pm December 13 & 14.  Each day is different so please consider visiting both Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is a $2 suggested donation and all proceeds benefit Vancouver’s Farmers Markets. The first 50 people arriving on Sunday will receive a free reusable market shopping bag.

Sunchoke Surplus

A home gardener (and apparently a good one) recently contacted us to see if anyone would like to buy his sunchokes. He estimates that he'll have about 100 lbs but that's a bit of an estimated guess as the crop is still in the ground. If you've got big plans for sunchokes, get in touch with Gary Davis in Fort Langley

Kwantlen proposes new farm school
Alan Campbell, Richmond News
Published: Friday, November 28, 2008

Provided it can get access to city-owned agricultural land for students to work on, the university plans to kick the program off early next year.
