We hope you're all looking forward to the coming spring season with as much anticipation as we are. There are some exciting new developments at the markets this year - longer seasons, larger locations. We'll be updating you as we get closer to opening day in May - we're sure that this season will be the best yet!

Hop to the Market this Weekend - March 22!

bunnyEaster Eggstravaganza! This Saturday, March 22 bring the kiddies to the market for a Easter scavenger hunt - all participants will get a sweet surprise for their efforts. For the adults in the crowd, we'll be having one of our famous raffles - prize donated by the market vendors - tix are $1 each, members get 2 free raffle tickets!

We'll also have a selection of egg-themed recipes available to pick up - a different recipe at each egg vendor. Vendors with eggs this weekend will be : Langley Organic Growers, Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm, Klippers Organic Acres and Goat's Pride Dairy.

You can also find a great assortment of dried fruits and juices, meat, cheese and dairy products, early season greens, root crops, baked goodies and bread mushrooms, seafood and more! You'll be amazed at the delicious variety!

Winter Farmers Markets upcoming: Mar. 22/08, Apr. 12/08, and Apr. 26/08. Market time is 10 am - 2pm, and admission is free. The WISE Hall is located at 1882 Adanac Street at Victoria Drive. Vienna Treasures
Announcing the opening of Vienna Treasures Bakery & Cafe located at 909 Twelfth Street, New Westminster - Phone 604 521-4400. Visit the Vienna Treasures website at www.viennatreasures.com for directions and more information.

The bakery and cafe offers all the familiar baked goods, i.e. apfel, poppy seed and walnut strudels, cookies, bundt cakes with the addition of bee sting, tortes. The specialty coffees and teas include Viennese coffee (dark chocolate and coffee with whipped cream) and new items throughout the seasons. You'll also fine a variety of European rye breads. Here is a little about us and our farm:
We are Kevin and Annamarie Klippenstein; we bought our farm in November 2001 when we were 26 years old. It was a 5 acre farm and in the last 6 years we have expanded to running a 30 acre certified organic farm in Cawston, B.C. We have 4 young children ages 3 - 10. We grow a large diversity of crops which include: Apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, apples, cherries, pears, heirloom tomatoes, melons, peppers, squash, onions, garlic, herbs, and much more. 95% of all our produce is sold in Vancouver at different farmers markets. We have been finalists for 2005, 2006, and 2007 outstanding young farmer of the year award for all of BC and Yukon. We won the best direct farm marketing award in 2006 from COABC. Currently we are working on building a B&B so we can do some agri-tourism in the future.

Successful Candidate will be:
- young
- energetic
- motivated
- pasionate about food
- willingness to learn and grow
- experience is desired but not mandatory since we are willing to train

Tasks:
- maintain quality control of produce
- cooler management: rotation of stock, organization of orders, keep tidy
- crop management: harvesting, planting, weeding, irrigating, pest management
- maintain harvest shed in organized fashion
- running the employee/WWOOF house. People are coming and going all season
- hours will depend on season with possible 10 hour days during peak season
- season: early April till end October- with option for full 1 year salaried contract

Benefits:
- accommodation and all meals available – we prefer that workers live on the farm
- monthly salary will reflect skills and experience
- all the veggies you can eat!
- potential long term partnership agreement

- healthy and fit (heavy lifting required and long hours of physically demanding work)
