Eliot Coleman

Eliot Coleman farms in the State of Maine and has for years proven that four season harvesting is profitable! At times he has earned up to half his income from the eight colder months of the year and finds that year-round harvesting lessens production pressures during the summer season.

He is the author of The New Organic Grower (Chelsea Green, 1989, revised, expanded second edition, 1995), Four Season Harvest (Chelsea Green, 1992, revised, expanded second edition, 1999) and the Winter Harvest Manual. He has contributed chapters to three scientific books on organic agriculture and has written extensively on the subject since 1975. He also wrote the foreword to Keeping Food Fresh: Old World Techniques and Recipes (1999), by the gardeners and farmers of Terre Vivant.

Conventional farmers, organic farmers, greenhouse growers and horticulturalists can all benefit from Mr. Coleman's insights. A dynamic speaker with a practical perspective he is the perfect launch to this timely series on the future of farming in BC.
